H2M architects + engineers is pleased to announce that Joseph Flynn of Stewartsville, NJ has joined the firm as a Senior Architect with a focus on the New Jersey Education and Municipal Markets, as well as other architectural opportunities in our Parsippany office. After almost 30 years in education, Joe is transitioning from a Superintendent’s role as a public-school leader to a Senior Architect role at H2M.
H2M’s successful education and municipal work relies on the use of our specialized professional knowledge to understand and develop solutions in collaboration with our clients and the communities they service while seeking to be cost efficient. From the initial concept to the ribbon cutting, H2M works hand-in-hand with school districts and municipalities to ensure their visions become a reality. Working with community groups and district leaders, H2M supports bond issues and capital budgets during the early project phases. The firm’s creative solutions are balanced with a practical, problem-solving approach, which translates to a cost-effective final product.
With his combined education and architecture background, Joe understands school and public projects from the administrator’s perspective, and is an expert on project funding, township approvals, school community communications, and coordinating construction with instructional calendars. Joe started his career in architecture, working for a firm that concentrated on the airline and real estate markets. In the mid 1990s, he moved to the public education sector, teaching technology education. During his teaching career, he owned and operated a small architecture and construction company, focusing on a wide range of residential, commercial, and educational projects.
In 2002, he elevated to an administrative role, serving several districts as their educational leader, and continued to make use of his facilities knowledge to serve as the owner’s representative for capital projects. Over the last 30 years, Joe has also served his hometown community of Franklin as a Township Committeeman and his local School District as a School Board Member. As a Township Committeeman, he was involved at the local, County, and State level. His community benefited from his experience in both architecture and construction projects.
Mr. Flynn said, “my career thus far has been very rewarding and I’m excited to blend my architectural, educational, and community experiences together at H2M.”
Joe graduated from the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Architecture, earned a Master’s in Educational Administration from Kean University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Centenary University, with his dissertation focusing on LEED design and its effects on learning.
Joe will be assisting the H2M Architecture practice in the management of many of our clients and in identifying and pursuing new engineering and architectural opportunities in New Jersey.
