Mill Creek Fire Company
New Fire Headquarters
Marshallton, DE
The Mill Creek Fire Company in Marshallton, Delaware needed a new station, one that could allow for expanded response, operations, and would meet current code requirements. The architects assessed the existing station and determined that the Company would need a new station on a new site.
The new station, located on a nearby property already owned by the Company is 19,800 square feet and features 5 double-deep bays, an active training mezzanine above the firematic support spaces, and a bunk suite with direct one-way access to the bays. The one-way access and the segregation of the building into “hot” and “cold” zones helps to control and restrict the spread of carcinogenic contamination.
Since the completion of the updated station, volunteer recruitment for the Company has improved, response times have decreased, and the Company expanded the types of responses it could provide.
