Fort Washington Fire Company
New Fire Station
Fort Washington, PA
H2M designed a new fire station for the Fort Washington Fire Company in Pennsylvania, who wanted to combine their volunteer fire company, a student bunker program, emergency operations center, training facilities, and municipal offices into a single building. To protect the adjacent residential neighborhood and historic house, the team designed landscape buffers with a drainage retention pond, high-quality fencing, and lush landscaping. The Municipality employs goats to trim the grass around the pond. The team also sited the apparatus bays as far from the nearby high school crosswalk as possible. Every program housed in the station has the flexibility and design parameters to accommodate future expansion without impacting any other program.
