Belmont Park Barn 27
New Barn Sprinkler System
Elmont, NY
The New York Racing Association selected our team to develop construction documents for the installation of a new fire sprinkler system at Barn 27, one of several horse stables at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY.
The existing structure was composed of combustible material, and due to a lack of heat in the building, the facility utilized a dry sprinkler system. In addition to the dry system, the roof was sloped which necessitated an increase in the sprinkler demand. To address this, we designed a fire pump to provide the required water pressure and flow.
A strategic layout was planned to route around the existing wood structure to minimize the number of piping low points that would require drains. Proper sloping of dry sprinkler pipes and drain placements are imperative to prevent incidental water freeze ups.
