H2M’s Liz Uzzo and Megan Holz Speak to Newsday About Family Leave
H2M Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Liz Uzzo, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, recently spoke to Newsday about trends in paid family leave as well as the options available for young professionals starting a family.
The article outlines the programs available to young professionals, including New York State Short Term Disability available for the birthing parent as well as Federal Family Medical Leave and New York Paid Family Leave, which are available to both parents.
Since 2018, when the New York Paid Family Leave Act took effect, Uzzo says she has seen an increase in men taking family leave along with greater coordination between working parents to maximize the amount of time they have at home with their children in the first year.
Newsday also spotlighted Senior Project Architect Megan Holz, RA, and her husband George, who are due for their second child later this month. In addition to paid family leave, H2M leadership often works with employees beyond the standard family leave period to provide the mentorship and flexibility that allows them to get work done while remaining present during their child’s most formative years.
